Over 7,400 New Zealanders are officially taking part in Dry July this year, and have already raised over $800K in donations!
Dry July raises funds to help improve the comfort, care and wellbeing of New Zealanders affected by cancer, via Look Good Feel Better, Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ and PINC & STEEL. All funds raised for Dry July New Zealand stay in NZ to benefit cancer patients, their families and carers, so it’s not a hard sell when it comes to why you should take part… but letting go of the after-work beer or weekend wine can be a lot tougher than we think.
We want to commend any of our members in our community who are taking part in Dry July, and give you a boost! Remember that challenging goals become easier to commit to when they are closely linked to our values…
As we’re halfway through the month things might be getting tough. Remind yourself each and every day of how Dry July relates to the kind of person you want to be: someone who helps people who are dealing with serious illness, someone who invests in their own health, someone who embraces challenge. Remember that such values-oriented action can have profound psychological wellbeing benefits as well as the obvious physical benefits of abstaining. It’s not just a win-win. It’s a win-win-win.
Speaking of physical benefits, you are likely already experiencing some of the below, and these will only improve as the month continues!
- A clearer head
- More energy
- Sleeping better
- Weight loss
- Healthier skin
- Sense of achievement
Lastly, we are offering complimentary alcohol-free Lyre’s cocktails in our Club Lounge to all our members in celebration of Dry July – whether you’re taking part or not!
See you in the Club for a booze-free tipple soon!
