Murray Crane on the Alberts Members Club

Murray Crane, Founder and Managing Director of leading contemporary tailors, Crane Brothers, kindly guest wrote a piece about the Alberts Club following our recent collaboration. As a new member himself, Murray explores the benefits of membership in the modern working world. Link to original piece further below.

‘One thing that I have always enjoyed about working internationally is access to a global network of well-appointed clubs; they’re invaluable when doing business abroad. Auckland has always struggled with providing such a club, with the preeminent one being more traditional and not conducive to doing business in quite the same way. That’s why Alberts Members Club is such a welcome addition to the Auckland CBD and why I am so excited to have become a member.

Situated at 1 Albert Street in one of Auckland’s most striking examples of seventies architecture it boasts a contemporary interior designed by award-winning interior architects, Acme who have previously worked for Merivale Group in Sydney Australia.

With the advent of hybrid working, the way we work has changed permanently. Many of us may no longer have a permanent base to work and network from. Alberts provides a modern way of working and meeting spaces on a permanent, semi-permanent and casual basis. All tenants have the opportunity to access the Members Club, which includes boardrooms and meeting rooms using state-of-the-art virtual technology and reception services. Members can host more casual meetings, hot desk, or simply meet with colleagues and others within the Alberts community for coffee, lunch or after work drinks. Other facilities include a luxurious meeting lounge; a state-of-the-art theatre with seating for 20, and a terrace area for events.

All of these spaces come together to allow Alberts members to fully employ the hub and spoke model working a combination of work-from-home, in-suite working and Club space use.

For me personally, one of the biggest benefits of becoming a member is access to an international club network via the alliance network, Sonato. This alliance network enables members to utilise international clubs with local member privileges and there are partnerships secured with clubs across each continent in every major city, many with accommodation as well. Alberts is truly an international addition to Auckland.’
